GYRL are a downtempo act from Leipzig, Germany between the two musicians Nikolas Noam and garstique. For three years, they have released music on various labels, including Drossel and Heimlich. Thanks to both their gritty and industrial techno sounds and their bass-heavy original productions, the two musicians have managed to make a name for themselves within Germany and beyond its borders. In the course of this, GYRL always attempt to diverge from the norm: Instead of applying tribal-sounds, they use distorted percussions; samples of real instruments are replaced by arpeggios and basslines; the jungle is superseded by an industrial warehouse. Even though there is no prototypical GYRL-set, there is a distinct and unique GYRL-sound. Yet, one thing is for certain: Do not expect generic downtempo.
